Fall’s Work Weeks

Dear friends of Bordo:

It’s now official, Armin and Gerard have agreed to lead and organize the Fall’s Work Weeks. It’s quite possible that others from our core team will join them as well. Two of our experienced cooks have already indicated that they will be here, at least part of the time. We will provide communal meals, and we will also continue to hold meditations—at least the morning ones; others may be held if there is interest. There will also be time for the occasional hikes, for discussions on fundamental Dharma topics, or for stories about the revival of the abandoned village.

Here is a selection of possible upcoming tasks (list is incomplete):

– Assisting with drywall construction
– Clearing the ruins with the tarpaulin roof, where the new terrace is planned (see the last newsletter)
– Garden and grounds maintenance, trimming shrubs and trees.
– Helping with fence projects and building a new access path
– Small carpentry projects, depending on available skilled workers
– Cable car transport of gravel, sand, and other building materials
– Preparing firewood
– Preparing the piazza Milarepa, houses, and kitchen for winter
– Harvesting the last of the fruit

Now, of course, we’re hoping for a strong team of motivated volunteers.

We’re looking forward to a few great fall weeks with you!
