Zen Sesshin
Simply sitting, therein lies the secret of Zen, without goal or expectation, in an attitude of great concentration.
A sesshin, literally “touching the mind,” is an intense time of concentrated Zen meditation. Zazen, seated meditation, is the focus of the practice in which we concentrate on posture, breathing, and the arising and disappearance of thoughts. It enables us to let the mind become calm and clear. Each sitting meditation is followed by a walking meditation. Focusing the mind on oneself is strengthened by the silence practiced throughout the sesshin.
The program includes four zazen sessions of about 2 hours per day, interspersed with community work and meals in silence.
