Stay in Bordo

Season 2024: Bordo is open from April to September.

Bordo is a place of heart and mind training, which is oriented to Buddha’s teachings and serves the well-being of all beings. Through courses, rituals, common festivities, seminars and conferences we cultivate and promote Buddhist mind training in the tradition of the Tibetan Karma Kagyu lineage.

In order to be able to participate in the courses and other activities or to stay overnight in Bordo, it is essential to become a supporting member for the current year of the ‘Karma Dechen Yangtse’ foundation. The foundation is not profit-oriented. The activities are financed by donations and the annual fees of the participants. The membership expires automatically at the end of the year.

MEMBERSHIP FEE:

Adults: 20 Euro
in training (12 to 20 years): 5 Euro
Children: 2 Euro

So that we can have a good time together, we ask you,

– to be mindful in dealing with people, animals and nature,

– to handle alcohol in moderation,

– to smoke only in the designated place (smoking area),

– to give up other drugs altogether.

– We do not recommend bringing pets. Exception only by prior arrangement. Hikers and day visitors are encouraged to keep their dogs on a leash in the village.

– Please park in Rivera. The upper parking lot near Cheggio is only for the residents of Cheggio and Bordo.

Please also uphold the village rules in the guest rooms.

Daily Routine

Meals:
Breakfast (8:00-8:30), lunch (12:30) and dinner (18.30) are prepared in the communal kitchen and are vegetarian (vegan is also possible after consultation). Tea and water are provided around the clock. Coffee & Espresso is available both in the morning and after lunch.

It is important that you state any food intolerances when registering. If you require gluten-free bread, please bring it yourself.

Daily meditations:
You are invited to participate in the daily meditations at 7:30, 17:30 and 20:00.

Assistance:
Bordo has been rebuilt and maintained through voluntary work. Without the help of many volunteers it could not continue. That’s why everyone in Bordo helps for an hour a day.

Packing List

Please bring your own torch, sleeping bag, biodegradable natural cosmetics (shower gel, shampoo), towels and, if possible, your own meditation cushion. Fitted sheets and pillows are available. A limited number of blankets and towels are available to rent upon advanced request in exchange for a donation.

Please Note

Bordo is an old village on a slope. There are many stone stairs and low door frames as well as areas with ruins. Therefore, please move with the necessary care. We ask parents to take care of their children and not to let them play in risky areas. Please also remember that the retreat area in the lower part of the village is a quiet zone.
